The aim of this project is to provide a powerful distributed computing platform for scientists of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) as well as others Lithuanian academic institutions. The project is being run by a group of scientists from VGTU
Prof. Raimondas Čiegis (rc@vgtu.lt), VGTU Department of Mathematical Modelling,
Dr. Vadimas Starikovičius (vs@vgtu.lt), VGTU Laboratory of Parallel Computing.
Our goal is to persuade scientists to use this kind of computations in their research and to assist them in preparing BOINC applications. We hope that scientific applications from various fields will be attractive to many current and future BOINC community volunteers and this will allow us to accumulate enough computing resources to achieve significant (unachievable otherwise) results.
Die Beschreibung der Anwendung:
This is a cryptographic application. Information security couldn"t be underestimated in our today"s world and will become more and more critical in the days ahead. Cryptography is one of the key technologies in achieving it. Constantly growing computational capabilities are imposing more and more strict requirements on cryptography standards, which are the objects constant study and analysis.
This application is solving DES Challenge problem. More on DES algorithm and its noticeable history as encryption standard, you can find here. We note that private data are not used for our tests!
Current version of application is not using replication. Application-specific validation is done for single job results.
This application is doing integer calculations, therefore the weighting given to the Whetstone benchmark in the calculation of claimed credit is set to 0. |

Es geht weiter,wie gehabt.

New problem (#5) to solve!
Finally, we start the solution of a new problem. As more academic than scientific project at the moment, we wanted for some time to get our students involved into it. Eventually, two of our students from Technomathematics programme (lt) – Stasys Biekša and Aivaras Sukackas have got interested in creating a graphical visualization for our current “DES key searching” application. And today we release the new application version with graphics developed by Aivaras (aivaras.sukackas@vgtu.lt).
So far, graphical application is available only for Windows. You can try it out from BOINC Manager: go to “Tasks”, select running task from “VGTU project@Home” and choose “Show graphics” or enable it as BOINC screensaver.
We have included some information on our university, city and the country. We hope you will find it interesting! |
Es gibt ein neues Problem zu lösen. Mehr das akademische als ein wissenschaftliches Projekt derzeit, wurden einige Studenten eingebunden. Zwei der Studenten haben eine grafische Visualisierung für die DES key searching-Anwendung entwickelt, die heute veröffentlicht wird.
Die grafische Anwendung ist derzeit nur unter Windows verfügbar. Der Anzeige wurden Informationen über die Uni, die Stadt und das Land hinzugefügt. Wir hoffen, ihr findet sie interessant! |
