First part of server upgrade complete
We upgraded the server software - if WU distribution, reporting, etc. is confirmed to work correctly, on Monday we will update the web pages.
As a first consequence of the upgrade, you should be receiving "notifications" in your BOINC clients. |
Die Serversoftware erhielt ihr Upgrade - sofern WU-Verteilung, -Meldung etc. korrekt arbeiten, folgen am Montag die Webpages.
Als Folge des Upgrades erhaltet ihr jetzt auch Nachrichten in den Clients.

New work units on long queue
Hi all, I have submitted 1000 new workunits to the long queue. The simulations focus on the receptor CB1, and with them we hope to gain some insights that will have important implications for a wide range of diseases, including several neurological disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, pain, and cancer. |
1.000 neue WUs wurden zum Abruf bereitgestellt. Sie fokussieren sich auf Rezeptor CB1, die hoffentlich Einsichten in einen weiten Bereich von Krankheiten (inklusive neurologische und gastrointestinale Störungen, Schmerz und Krebs) geben.

Es gibt ein Update in der HIV-Forschung, das auf der Science-Seite der Webseite zu finden ist.
Dank der Hilfe aller Cruncher wurde ein fundamentaler Prozess in der Reifung des HIV entdeckt. Es ist aber noch weitere Arbeit zur Komplettierung nötig (Tag: HIVPR).

Thanks to the awesome work done by Ignasi, GPUGRID.net has a new, stylish, (even steelish :-) appearance. The redesign affected essentially all the areas of the website.
We (well, Ignasi) has paid especially close attention to the "Science" section - it's completely redesigned, and includes visual cues of the each major area we are doing research in. We hope you will enjoy it!
Needless to say, the forums and user/task/WU/server status pages are also updated and in sync with the new style, but they maintain all the old functionality. The BBCode thing is now functional. For more details, comments, etc., please refer to the "server and website" forum.
A whole-hearted thank you to Ignasi for this Christmas present to the group. |
Und die Webseite hat ein neues Aussehen! Da sie jetzt genauso aussieht wie die vom Testprojekt LUNA, ist wohl anzunehmen, daß LUNA nur für diesen Zweck da ist. 
Meine Meinung: vorher hat's besser ausgesehen...

We have added BOINC-client shortcuts to commonly-accessed GPUGRID web pages. (Known as Client Web Links or GUI Urls in BOINC lingo.)
You should soon see the following buttons appear in the Projects/GPUGRID tab: Your account; Your team (if any); Server state; Donations; Science; Forums.

Ein Badge-System wird in Kürze eingeführt - vermutlich in zwei bis drei Wochen.
Nächste Woche werden die Bilder dafür enthüllt.
Es wird zwei Arten von Badges geben: eins für die Gesamtcredits und eins für die relativen Beiträge an den Publikationen (eine Publikation, ein Badge).

The Amino acids, components of proteins, the main characters in GPUGRID simulations. Given per total number of credits and milestones in 20 levels, the number of amino acids encoded by the universal genetic code (ordered by molar mass ~weight). Amino acid/credits equivalences below.
The Waters, basic component of life and a distinctive trait of our long and accurate simulations. 7 levels (Plastic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire) to represent relative contribution to our scientific publications. Each water badge will be linked to the corresponding publication and Science topic. Water/percentage equivalences below.
The donor badge is changed to the crown

Es gibt 1.000 neue, "normale" WUs. Für eine WU gibt es 9.100 Basiscredits. Der WU-Typ benutzt ein Standardsetup und es gab ihn bereits in der Vergangenheit.

We have put some not-so-long WUs in the (currently empty) long queue. They give normal credit (possibly with bonuses). This is part of an experiment to verify whether we can get low-latency results in a collaboration we are starting with another famous group.
They are named "TAKExx". |
Es wurden einige nicht so lange WUs (namens TAKExx) in die (momentan leere) lange Queue geschoben. Sie geben normale Credits (evtl. mit Bonus). Sie sind Teil eines Experiments, um zu überprüfen, ob wir Ergebnisse mit niedriger Latenz in einer Kollaboration mit einer anderen bekannten Gruppe bekommen können.

There are some reports of bugs concerning the latest NVIDIA drivers (failures when monitor goes to sleep). GPUGRID may be immune to the bug, but if it occurs to you, rollback to previous drivers. |
Der neuste NVidia-Treiber scheint ein Problem zu haben, wenn der Monitor "schlafen" geht. GPUGrid könnte dagegen immun sein, aber wer damit Probleme hat, sollte weiter den vorherigen Treiber benutzen.

The work units themselves are not from a new system, but rather are an important validation of work I have already been doing. These work units require the long queue, and will likely take 12 hours on the fastest cards. Let us know if you have any problems or concerns and we'll do what we can to address them. |

The driver causes CUDA WUs to fail - here and on other projects. Please don't use it until NVIDIA fixes the bug. |
Nochmal der Hinweis, nicht den NVidia-Treiber 295.x zu benutzen, da er bei GPUGrid (und auf anderen Projekten) WUs zum Absturz bringt.
