Server Upgrade on Thursday, April 18th
On Thursday morning, April 18th, the Collatz server will be taken down to upgrade it to the latest BOINC server software. This upgrade should enable Collatz to support OpenCL applications on Intel embedded GPUs. |
Am Donnerstag, den 18.4., wird der Server zum Upgrade auf die neueste BOINC Server-Software heruntergefahren. Danach ist die Unterstützung von OpenCL-Anwendungen für Intel-GPUs möglich.

A new application has been added named "solo_collatz". This application has a quorum of 1 so credit will be granted as soon as the result is validated. Rather than wait for a second computer to return the same result, the solo application uses the CPU to double check the GPU results eliminating the need for a wingman. Multiple instances of the solo CUDA and OpenCL applications can be run on a GPU at a time via the use of an app_config.xml file if GPU utilization is lower than with previous Collatz applications.
If you wish to run both GPU and CPU applications, it is suggested that you uncheck both "collatz" and "mini_collatz", check "solo_collatz" and also check "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" That will enable you to get mini_collatz work for you CPU and solo_collatz work for your GPU. |
Die neue Anwendung solo_collatz ist jetzt draußen. Sie hat 1er-Quorum, womit es Credits gibt, sobald das Ergebnis validiert wurde. Bei dieser Anwendung wird die CPU als Gegencheck für die GPU-Ergebnisse benutzt, ein Wingman ist deshalb nicht mehr nötig. Mehrere Instanzen der solo-CUDA und -OpenCL-Versionen können durch Benutzung einer app_config.xml gleichzeitig auf einer GPU laufen, wenn die GPU-Nutzung geringer ist als mit den vorigen Anwendungen!
Wer sowohl GPU als auch CPU-Anwendungen laufen lassen will, sollte collatz und mini_collatz abwählen, solo_collatz und die Option "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" anwählen. Das erlaubt es dann, mini_collatz für die CPU und solo_collatz für die GPU zu erhalten.

Version 4.06 Für Windows Vista/7/8 64-Bit-Systeme mit AMD OpenCL GPUs ist für alle drei Anwendungen erschienen. Sie sollte Probleme der HD 7xxx-GPUs und/oder AMD Catalyst 13.x-Treiber beheben. Wer weiterhin Probleme damit hat, sollte sich im Forum melden.

Die Solo Collatz 4.07 für Nvidia und Ati gibt es nun auch für 64bit Linux. Bei Problemen bitte melden. |

Windows Version 4.07 has been released for Collatz, Mini_Collatz, and Solo_Collatz. This version fixes a bug in checkpointing as well as allows Catalyst 13.4 drivers to use OpenCL optimization which can increase the speed by up to 6 times versus v4.06. (Note: It still isn't as fast as the ATI 2.09 app on older GPUs though.) As usual, please report any issues. |
Die Windows-Verion 4.07 für alle Anwendungen ist draußen, behebt einen Bug mit den Checkpoints und erlaubt es den Catalyst 13.4-Treibern, die OpenCL-Optimierungen zu nutzen, die die Geschwindigkeit versechsfachen kann!
