Some news
I had to wait for all the WU to come back before sending new ones. I just re-started the work generator so there should be WUs available in a few minutes.
Windows is deprecated until I find the bug (I won't have time to look into it before 1st of June).
The projet now uses homogenous redundancy to avoid invalid results.
Since the project is really demanding at the moment and since some of you ask for, I increased the credits/WU ( x 2 ). |
- Die Windows-Anwendung wurde erstmal gestoppt, bis der Admin sich darum kümmern kann, den Fehler zu finden.
Derzeit wird homogene Redundanz benutzt, um ungültige Ergebnisse zu verhindern.
Außerdem wurden die Credits um das Doppelte pro WU erhöht.

Publications
As some of you may know, this project is part of my Master's thesis. It is now available online. It is written in french, but I'll try to translate some of the conclusions in english in a few days.
I also like to share with you an article published by the main searchers of this project (F. Maes, J. Becker and L. Wehenkel). The article is about the prediction of structural properties of proteins. It is available in french and in english.

- Da das Projekt Teil der Diplom-Arbeit des Admins ist, gibt's diese jetzt auch online. Hauptsächlich in Französisch, die englische Übersetzung sollte bald folgen.
Weitere Publikationen über die Vorhersage struktureller Eigenschaften von Proteinen gibt es hier in Französisch und in English.

Work available
The results obtained with the last 2 experiments are better than expected. We expected the score to be stabilized, but it keeps increasing ! So I decided to launch a third batch of WU's to see if it's still increasing.
A known problem on all the platforms is the RAM consumption. Some WUs are too demanding so that the app crashes after a few minutes (sometimes because of BOINC limitation, sometimes because of the 2Go limitation imposed by 32 bits).
Another known bug is on some Windows hosts: multiple instances are running at the same time so that all the RAM available is used leading sometimes to computer crash. If you experience this bug, I recommend you to stop Evo@home currently.
The current batch of WUs will be used to track this bug and try to solve it.
Notice that this is the last batch of WUs that are this much demanding (RAM). The next experiments should use less RAM and may concern another field of research than proteins. |
Es gibt derzeit wieder neue WUs, die aber wieder enorm Speicher benötigen, also aufgepaßt!
Es soll aber der letzte Batch dieser Art sein, die nächsten Experimente werden weniger RAM benötigen.

Von Evo gibt's schon seit einigen Monaten kein Lebenszeichen mehr bzw. die Webseite ist nicht erreichbar. Ich leg das jetzt mal still, vermutlich gibt's das nicht mehr...
