Das Projekt soll erstmal Testzwecken dienen und hat eine OpenCL-Anwendung für Windows/Linux 32- und 64-Bit, ATI- und NVidia-Karten werden unterstützt.
Die Beschreibungen:

Eine neue Linux-Version 6.12 ist draußen, die einige Probleme behebt. Wenn sie problemlos läuft, sollte eine Windows-Version folgen.

Willy hat sich zähneknirschend überreden lassen, Donate doch zu führen.
Es wird aber von derartigen Projekten keine Challenges bei Ihm geben.

I'm still not happy with the project, to me it sounds insane to burn electricity to generate a currency which is worth less than the cost of the electricity and the hardware needed to run the app. But since the project doesn't have to cover those costs, it's a win for them. All in all it doesn't seem very efficient and it takes crunching power away from real science. Maybe you should reconsider if you want to run this project instead of donating a few $$ to them.
I can say upfront that any project which produces bitcoins with no other purpose than to reap the benefits of it (e.g. money not going back to BOINC science) will not be added to BOINCstats, no matter how hard you people nag about it. Let's call that a protection of the future of BOINC. I sincerely hope other stats sites will have the same conscience.
Edit: Challenges can't be issued on bitcoin projects. |

da isser wieder der tumbe klompen.. 
WAS soll das?
1. niemand cruncht irgendein boinc-projekt ohne sich dafür zu entscheiden - man muss da schon tätig werden.
2. wer lieber ein extra auf der stromrechnung gegen credits eintauscht statt zu spenden ohne credit, hat auch das selbst entschieden. machen wir das nicht alle und überall?
3. das boinc neue wege sucht war immer gewollt - was nicht funktioniert hat, ist hinten runtergefallen. das solche reaktionäre wie willy jetzt versuchen da einzuschreiten ist vollständig deplaziert. entweder stats von boinc oder eben irgendwas anderes - dann sollte der herr umfirmieren. |

Bei Donate war wohl die Platte voll, aber der Server hat sich noch nicht vollständig erholt.

Da der Server immer noch nicht up-to-date ist, wird über einen zweiten Server nachgedacht. Zu Ende des Tages sollte er wieder verfügbar sein.

3rd month report
D@H is 3 months old, so time for another report.
So far we have raised around 7,000 Euro. 3000 euro have been transferred already to the University account, another as much are being transferred. The rest is still in bitcoins. All the transactions are reported in the fellowships page.
That's even with limited participation (around 100 people) and some problems with the software/server.
At gpugrid, we had many changes in the last two months. After several years, few people have finished their work and moved to new job positions. New people are coming but the funding situation for science is quite bad. So, actually, the money raised here will be crucial for GPUGRID. Nate will receive the first fellowship from donate@home. His grant ends in June and it will be renewed for one year. |
Dritter Monatsreport:
Es wurden ca. 7.000 Euro aufgetrieben. 3.000 davon sind bereits aufs Universitätsokonto gegangen, nochmal soviel werden transferiert. Der Rest ist noch in Botcoins. Alle Transaktionen werden auf der Mitgliedsseite gelistet.
Bei GPUGrid hat sich einiges geändert. Einige Leute haben ihre Arbeit beendet und haben neue Jobs gefunden. Neue Leute kommen, aber die Finanzierungssituation ist sehr schlecht. Das Geld von hier wird also entscheidend sein für GPUGrid. Nate wird die erste Mitgliedschaft (oder Stipendium?) von Donate erhalten. Sie wird bis Juni gehen, aber für ein Jahr erneuert.

Das erste Stipendium für das erste Jahr seiner Promotion geht an Nate von GPUGrid. Er hat sein zweites Jahr als Master in Bioinformatik beendet und startet eine Promotion bei GPUGrid.

First, I want to thank you all for your contribution and for making my doctorate possible. It has always been difficult for scientists to find funding for their research (though not always without good reason), but the current global economic situation has made it substantially more difficult in almost all countries. Some people in the BOINC/crunching community expressed strong reservation when the donate@home project was first proposed. I assure you that the idea and the ethical considerations were not taken lightly on this end either. Ultimately, we chose to proceed with the project in the form you see it now, with the goal of funding fellowships for PhDs. It’s disheartening to see governments cut investment in future innovation, but very heartening to see that you have chosen to help us persevere. With your contribution, we can continue to push the boundaries of human knowledge.
